Being optimistic about the weather in August here in Copenhagen is a good thing. Just sometimes, even though it is warm the wind can change everything. Instead of planning to have a picnic in Bryggen we ended up in our rooftop.
I bought all the picnic food from Torvehallerne. A good place for a grab of good food and wine.
In summer, people are flocking in the area enjoying the charming ambiance and variety of food. This is a place that would satisfy your stomach and touch the comfy side of you. Pizza, pasta, chocolates, fresh fruits and vegetables, coffee and fresh pressed juices, fish and meat, good wines! Wherever you are from around the world, this place won’t disappoint you! The locals love this place as much as the tourists do.
What I bought:
A good wine…
2013 RNC Gewurztraminer at Lautia Vino Fino.
The wine was sweet. It does not go well with anchovies though. It was not a good idea. Nevertheless still very good.
Torvehallerne have several wine shops you can check out for good deals. The one I bought (made in New York) was surprisingly good compared to some I tasted in the US. You can eat a pasta while sipping a red glass of wine with a friend and enjoy a relaxing day in one of the mini-restaurants in the area.
Tapas and anchovy in the other building. I don’t remember the name of the shop.
Aside from tapas you´ll also find fish, meat shops, a large variety of seafoods! You can go amok!
Fruits from the fruit stand outside. The shops outside sell fresh greens, flowers, fruits, plants or fresh ingredients you can use for cooking such as parsley, coriander and many others. The good thing is, you can self estimate how many fruits or veggies you want since it is weighed and not all are sold packed.
August and cherries…
I super love these anchovy. A bread topped with this and tapas is heaven. There is also a bakery in the area which serves different delicacies.
Other place that I love in Torvehallerne are The Coffee Collective and Unplugged juice. I buy coffee beans in Collective and love Defense juice of Unplugged. Nothing beats a good cup of coffee and a fresh juice, right?
